New Series: Becoming a Strong Woman of God
Hurricane Harvey, Irma, and now Maria.
Fires in the West.
Massive earthquakes in Mexico.
Threats from North Korea.
Shootings and bombings across the world.
From natural disasters to man’s sin, the world is in need of hope. But where does one find hope in such darkness and despair? Hopefully, they’ll turn to us, the Christ-follower, because we have a personal relationship with the God of all hope.
We know Christ in an intimate way and we have His Word which provides comfort and direction.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105
We have the power of the Living God dwelling inside of us.
But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. 1 John 4:4 (NLT)
We know where to point a hurting soul.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1,2
Every human being is struggling with something or living with some sort of pain, whether emotional or physical. They might even have a thread of despair wrapped around their fragile heart. This is exactly how I feel right now as I type these words as tears well up in my eyes. Just moments ago I received some negative news that has sent ripples of pain across my heart.
Pain is one thing every human being has in common.
So what happens when we are too weak or weary to help others?
How on earth can we find the strength (or desire) to turn and help someone else with their pain and suffering when our own life feels hard, heavy, and discouraging?
The answer: we grow into strong women of God.
As disciples of Christ, if we’re not grounded in the Word, then it won’t take much for us to be uprooted when a simple wind blows our way.
Maybe you’re wrestling with being:
- a Fearful Disciple
- an Overwhelmed Disciple
- a Doubt-filled Disciple
- a Rejected Disciple
- a Rebellious Disciple
- a Lazy Disciple
- a Wounded Disciple
- a Weary Disciple
- a Wandering Disciple
- or a Worrying Disciple
Just know that you’re not alone. I’ve been all of the above at one point or another in my walk with Jesus and it’s why I’m compelled to write this series.
People will be drawn to a Christ-follower who is deeply rooted and grounded in God’s Word because she can refresh those who need to be refreshed and she can bring a healing balm to a brokenhearted soul.
He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! 2 Corinthians 1:4-6
Instead of succumbing to our emotions, which will leave us dehydrated, this series is designed to spiritually saturate and soak us in God’s Word because the deeper and closer you walk with Jesus, the more impact you’ll have in the life of others. You become a catalyst, a fire so bright that that whole world can see, that makes a change for the better.
For (s)he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit. Jeremiah 17:8
But if we’re parched women, then we can’t pour into others whether that’s our husband, children, extended family, friends, or neighbors.
