Essential Oils have been my go-to choice of natural medicine.
I’m not brand-loyal, I’m body-loyal, meaning I don’t care what brand the essential oil comes from as long as it works for my body. In the past, I’ve experimented with 5 different essential oil brands.
Young Living
My essential oil journey started with Young Living. Their oils worked for me but the smell of some of them I didn’t care for, which meant I didn’t want to use them. Also, after comparing oils from this company with DoTerra’s oils (the next brand I tested), I found that 9 out of 10 oils from DoTerra were cheaper than Young Living’s.
I also had a few negative reactions (headaches) from Young Living’s oils. Headaches are either due to too much oil too fast, which simply means my body is reacting (detoxing) too quickly. Or the oil isn’t 100% pure. There have been conflicting results about Young Living’s quality of oils so do your research and test for yourself. That’s what I did.
When I came across DoTerra’s oils I fell in love. With the smell, the quality, and their wholesale prices, (which is how I purchase DoTerra’s oils because I use essential oils for everything!) My body responds extremely well to DoTerra’s oils and I have yet to receive a headache from any of their blends. My only gripe with DoTerra is that they put vanilla in a large percentage of their oil blends and I happen to hate the smell of vanilla. For some odd reason, the smell of it makes me angry. I know, it’s odd and it shouldn’t be a big deal. But if I want an oil blend to help me relax, having vanilla in it will cause the opposite to happen. This is the only reason why I have checked into other companies.
This brand is from Dr. Axe and Jordan Ruben, two people I trust when it comes to natural health. If you’re wanting a great resource for natural health, then Dr. Axe is your guy. Both men are committed Christians and Jordan is a Messianic Jew. When you get into natural medicine people get weird and have a tendency to bring in New Age garbage. Not so with these guys.
Over a decade ago, I came across Jordan and read about his severe health problems and how he restored his health. It was his books that helped me take hold of my health. Several years later I found Dr. Axe. These two guys paired up and created a line of essential oils which is fairly new to the marketplace (which is why I don’t have a lot of their oils) and they are adding new single oils and blends on a regular basis. The purpose of their oils is for medicinal reasons as opposed to just using oils for a nice smelling or clean home.
I’ve used this brand in the past. Their oils smell great and they are extremely affordable (without vanilla in every blend they sell!) The problem I have had with their oils is I get headaches. This was such a bummer for me because I LOVE their prices and the smell of their oils. Some of their oils seem to work, but they don’t seem to be as strong as DoTerra’s.
I have a few oils from this company. Their pricing is not that much different from DoTerra’s wholesale prices and their oils don’t smell as good. They seem to work but they don’t seem as effective as DoTerra’s.
If you’re going to use essential oils for medicinal purposes, I would use any of the above companies. I’d stay away from the oils sold at Sprouts or Clark’s because I don’t believe you’ll get the results you’re looking for.
