Marriage

I Want to Be a Wife of The Word, Not a Wife of the World

I Want to be a Wife of The Word, Not a Wife of the WorldMan Crush Monday.  That’s what was posted on a Facebook status.

So what does that mean, you ask?  Well, if it’s Monday, then you should post a photo of the guy you’ve got a crush on.  Most likely photos of celebs are posted and not a woman’s husband.

And I thought about that action…

And it led me to think, well, what if my husband posted a photo of a hot woman… and it wasn’t me?

I would be devastated.  We can just call that day, Crush Your Wife Wednesday because that’s what would happen to my heart.  Wives everywhere would have crushed spirits if their husbands pulled that stunt.

This popular act is rude and disrespectful.  There’s no way around it.  Slant it however you’d like, but bottom line is if your guy saw you posting a picture of some other man that you thought was hot, he’d feel hurt and disrespected by your actions.

Sure this might be a popular thing to do, but it’s not wise.  It doesn’t build up your guy, nor does it strengthen your marriage in any way.  Every human being has insecurities.  We all have issues and scars that we deal with and the last thing we should do is seek to tear down our husbands.

I want to be a wise wife, not a wife who’s doing something popular according to the world’s standards.

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.  Romans 12:2

It’s easy to feel pulled into the ways of the world.  I can get caught up into this, often.  But when I turn to the Word for guidance and comfort and focus on the Bible as being the authority in my life, then I will become a woman of The Word rather than a woman of the world.

Marriage is under attack all the time and my encouragement to you is to be a wife who stands against the culture.  Be an example of a Wife of The Word; a wife who respects her husband.  A simple act that you can do to make an impact in our world today is post a picture of your husband when Monday rolls around.  If he’s on Facebook, tag him in your photo.  I guarantee you when he sees you making this uplifting, public proclamation about him, this act will boost his spirit rather than crush it!  It will also draw him closer to you rather than push him away.  And I believe every marriage would fair well when a husband and wife are drawn closer to one another.
