Enjoying Your Relationship with Jesus Christ
Have you ever felt overwhelmed in your pursuit of growing into a Godly woman? Or maybe you’ve experienced defeat or been deflated in your attempts to becoming a woman of virtue? Yeah, I’ve been there too.
A reader wrote in sharing this same struggle. Here’s her story…
Dear Jolene
I´m a 21 years old woman and I really wish to live for the Lord.
I really want to live in purity and with a simple but deep spirit. I am reading a book about the proverbs 31 woman called “Beautiful in God´s eyes” from Elizabeth George. While reading this, the wish, to be this kind of woman, is growing greater and greater. I read so much blog posts and articles about becoming a lovely woman and about being the one, the Lord wants me to have – but I feel, like I will never be the perfect kind of woman (yeah, I know that I will never be perfect).
Where should I stop reading these articles? Is there a limit?
Is it wrong or cumbersome to read so many different articles or to put the right things in action? Please help me. I´m confused.Be blessed for all the words that you write and never stop doing this work!
Hugs, Sonja
Here’s my answer.
First, it’s not wrong to read enormous amounts of books/blogs about growing into a Godly woman. If you have a thirst for it, then drink it up. Second, when the reading, studying and applying becomes so cumbersome or when you feel defeated in your own growth, then take a step back from all the learning, and instead, just relax and enjoy your relationship with the Lord.
Take the perspective that the Apostle John took and just lean up against Jesus’ chest.
Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved. John 13:23
