What If I Married the Wrong Person?
Have you ever wondered if you chose the right spouse? You’re not alone, and you’re not safe there either. In this episode, Eric and I tackle one of the most common and spiritually dangerous questions in marriage: what if I married the wrong person? The answer is more surprising, and more freeing, than you’d expect: in one sense, everyone married the wrong person. In another sense, everyone married the right one. Understanding both halves of that answer might be the thing that saves you from tearing down what God intends to redeem.

In this episode:
- Why, in one sense, everyone married the wrong person, because no one is perfect
- Why, in another sense, everyone married the right person, because God honors the covenant of marriage
- How feelings fluctuate, and why building your marriage on emotion instead of God’s Word leads to trouble
- Why Satan specifically targets marriage: it reflects Christ and the church
- God’s perfect will vs. His permissible will, and why the distinction stops mattering once you’re married
- How God redeems imperfect unions: Joseph, Rahab, the Israelites, and more
- Tending your garden: the daily maintenance a marriage actually requires
- A grandfather’s 60-year marriage secret: never stop getting to know the person beside you
Key Scriptures:
- Matthew 19:6, “What God has joined together, let no one separate.”
- Genesis 50:20, “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.”
- Matthew 7:24–27, building your house on the rock
Takeaway: Stop asking if you married the right person. Start becoming the right person and building the marriage God intended. Embrace your choice.
