The Christian and the Coronavirus
The coronavirus pandemic has forced us to live in unprecedented times. Here in California, the Governor just gave an order for the majority of the population to stay at home.
For the world, the status quo is no more. Life has been turned upside down.
All of a sudden you’re out of toilet paper.
All of a sudden you’re homeschooling.
All of a sudden you’re working from home (or you’re out of a job.)
And all of a sudden you’ve become a Master Chef as you prepare daily meals as if you’re on an episode of Chopped.
Hmm, what kind of dinner can I make with a jar of pickled okra, a bruised sweet potato, and chicken feet?
And in the back of our minds, we can’t help but wonder, “Will we get the virus?”
Panic and hysteria set in. Worry governors our thoughts.
We fear loss of control because we fear loss.
Loss of our health.
Loss of our jobs.
Loss of income.
Loss of food supplies and necessities.
And ultimately, loss of life.
At the core of our fear and anxiety is a lack of trust in the One True God.
The coronavirus was not lurking behind God trying to sneak up on Him. The Lord knew ahead of time what we would face today.
Believer in Christ Jesus, remember this…
When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. Isaiah 43:2
A storm has hit us but God is in control. Prepare for battle, Christian, our work has just begun. The world is in a state of fear and panic and you have the antidote—Jesus Christ.
Live a poured out life for Christ,
