There’s Work to be Done for God’s Kingdom
I was longing to be home as I looked out the airplane window. I missed my husband, my boys and my bed. But while I was thinking of my earthly home I couldn’t help but think of my eternal one as I was flying high up in the sky overlooking the white blanket of clouds.
And that’s when my Father said,
“Daughter, you’re not home yet because I have need of you. You still have work to do on this earth. I’ve given you a purpose and I need you to answer the call for Me.”
I nodded my head as I stared out the window. Yes, Lord was my heart’s cry.
Upon arriving home I immediately went to bed and slept for over 13 straight hours. And then I slept in late the next day and then the next and I napped each day as well. Can I just say that I was exhausted?
Ministry takes time, effort and sacrifice. (I’ll share more on this topic in another post.)
But this world is not worth living unless you’re living it for the Lord! And well, for me and my house, well you know what this gal will be doing…I’ll be serving the Lord!
“And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15
While I was on one of my many different legs of travel back to Southern California, I was seated across the aisle from a woman and her young son. I saw her earlier, like at 5:00 a.m., in the airport reading her Bible to her son but little did I know that God had a plan for the two of us to speak.
And here we were across from each other in an airplane for hours. I was too tired to initiate conversation with anyone so I just sat on the plane either reading my Bible, or another book or I tried to sleep. And this woman, without ever saying a word to me slipped me a piece of paper and as I read it my eyes welled up with tears….
It was a word from my Lord to me. And in it He called me daughter. In case you’re new here, that’s what my Lord calls me. When He speaks to me He doesn’t call me Jolene. Or dear. Or honey. No, He calls me Daughter. Imagine my surprise when all throughout this letter it said, “daughter”.
God used this woman to minister to me that day on the plane. She didn’t have to go out of her way much. She just had to be obedient to God as He asked her to minister to a complete stranger (who later became her sister). I love how the Lord uses the Body of Christ to be his hands and feet!
Where is God calling you to serve today? Is it in your marriage? In motherhood? Cleaning toilets or making a hot meal? Is the Lord calling you beyond the ministry of your family? Maybe it’s a note of encouragement to someone else? Prayer for someone in need?
Step out in faith and answer His call, my friend, because God has need of you!
Live a poured out life for Christ,
Jolene
Thank you, Jolene. Just what I needed to hear this morning. We serve right where we are and wherever He calls us. Blessings to you…
You are welcome, Sheila!
