What You Need to Know About Spiritual Warfare
Since sending out yesterday’s post, I’ve received so many encouraging comments from women that my eyes have gushed tears all day. Feel free to call me a Bucket of Water because that’s what I was. 🙂
But first, let me make something clear before I get into the meat of this post because there might be a bit of confusion from what I shared with you yesterday.
I’m not stopping blogging. I’m merely shutting down the comments here. You can still connect with me on Facebook and I also read every email that comes my way. And if I happen to get too much grief on Facebook then I’ll just ban users like I’ve done before. When people start cursing at me and/or some of my readers, well, this woman just won’t put up with that nonsense!
Now let’s talk about spiritual warfare, shall we? I know, what a fun topic. please note my sarcasm 🙂 But seriously, it’s a real topic and one that a Believer should be mindful of. If you happen to be a new Christian, try not to freak out over this. I know this concept might be new to you, but I promise I’ll point you to the Scriptures so you’ll see that spiritual warfare is a real thing.
What You Need to Know About Spiritual Warfare
We are in a battle of Good vs. Evil and we will be until the day we die.
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Eph. 6:12 NLT
So how do we handle this battle? Do we repay evil for evil? Nope. Although there have been many times I would have loved to do so! 🙂
Let’s turn to the Scriptures for the answers…
I loved how Jesus handled the Devil when he was getting on Jesus’ case trying to tempt Him in the wilderness. (Matt. 4:1-11) The Devil would twist the Word of God to try and deceive the Lord. That’s just a funny statement to type out. Satan deceiving Jesus- that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
Know the Truth and Speak the Truth
Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. Eph. 6:13-15 NLT
Okay, back to how Jesus handled the Devil and his lies. Jesus quoted the full Truth and nothing but the Truth. So you’ve got to know the Truth so you can withstand the Enemy. Stay in the Word of God. Warrior, this is your armor!
Have Faith
Stand firm and have faith. God is on your side. He’s with you in the midst of your warfare.
In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Eph. 6:16 NLT
Pray
Seek the Lord and His will. Know that the Holy Spirit will guide you in your situation.
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Eph. 6:18 NLT
Be Watchful
Another area that a Believer needs to take into consideration regarding spiritual warfare is being watchful. If you’re living for Christ, preaching Christ, serving as Christ, going through trials trying to glorify Christ, etc. then you can bet the Enemy will be showing up to tear you down. It’s not a matter of if he will, but rather when he will. Hence what I shared with you the other day. Obviously if my blog had nothing to do with Jesus Christ and His Word, then I’m sure I wouldn’t get attacked for what I write. As you most likely already know, one of the main topics I write on here is a Biblical marriage. If that’s not enough fuel to tick off the Enemy, then I don’t know what is. Since God intended marriage to reflect Christ and the Church, is it any wonder that the Enemy wants to destroy marriage? The Enemy will come after yours, too, because he’s a destroyer. So be ready, warrior.
See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Eph. 5:15-17
Let Go
This might be a really hard one for most women, but it’s imperative!
Let the Lord be your defense. Let Christ, the Mighty Warrior, fight your battles. Most of us are control freaks so this is definitely easier for me to type out than to live out!
For the battle is not yours, but God’s. 2 Ch. 20:15
There’s so much more that I can write on this topic, like the time when the Enemy deceived me and I went through weeks of spiritual warfare, but that story will have to wait until another time.
From one warrior for the Lord to another…
