  1. wow, jolene. i certainly won’t claim to have walked in your incredibly-intense shoes, but there are some very familiar pieces here. pieces that are a part of my family’s health journey as well (candida, leaky gut, hormone imbalance, autoimmune stuff, adrenal issues, B12 shots every other day, crazy-limited diet, etc.). but most beautifully, of course, is the redeeming theme of 2 cor. 12:9.

i read these couple of verses from john 9 the other day, & was so very encouraged at the reminder of His good & perfect plan:
“As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.”

so that the works of God might be displayed in him . . . oh, such soothing salve for my often-aching soul in this arena.

thank you so much for sharing your story, jolene, so that the works of God might be displayed in you!

poured out with you, friend — all for His glory,
    tanya

  2. I am just continually blessed by your writing! Since I have become a Christian God has taken me through quite a few rough physical things- I have to say, nothing like you’ve experienced- but some pretty tough things. A car accident with a broken pelvis and a knee that needed several replaced ligaments and lots of work, different problems during pregnancies and children with their own health struggles (I have 6), gall-bladder attacks and surgery, gluten and dairy intollerance, many other different physical problems at one time or another, and right now I’m sitting with a severe sprain in my left ankle and a weak right leg from being over-used (my knee that has all the donor ligaments and hardware in it is weak and hurts). I’ve used a walker the last 2 days to slowly get around. And I have a newborn (8 wks old today) as well as my 5 other beautiful children and husband to take care of. I’ve been frustrated- BUT you are soooo right! And God has been revealing this to me- our situations don’t define us, our faith does and that is where is light can shine sooo brightly from us in times of hardship. Thank you so much for continuing to encourage and inspire me to keep my eyes focused on Jesus- no matter what happens along the way. See, for a long time, I’ve allowed what other people thought of me or thought I should be to define me- or what I thought other poeple were thinking of me! Specifically concerning me physically. I’ve never felt “good” enough, “approved” enough by others- but we are to be a workman approved by God, right! I’m getting there! Thank you THank you Thank you for being a light on my path while He leads me to where I’m supposed to be!
