  1. Thank you for the words of encouragement ~ they have reminded me that the Lord has put me here for a reason, and that, with His strength, I can continue to support and encourage my husband.
The world asks, “How can you keep doing this?~ It must get so discouraging to not be able to do so many things!” When I listen to those words day after day, I can become discouraged, and resentful of what my husband’s chronic illness has taken away from our lives.
Thank you for reminding me that the Lord is here in our midst! I have been encouraged to take my eyes off the negative (and off myself), and to see how I can be a blessing to my husband. I needed to be reminded of this today!

  2. I can relate to it right now.. Sometimes, for no reason at all, I vent out to my husband. And I felt sorry when it ended that way. And it’s disappointing that I take out my frustrations on the one’s I love the most. Glad that we have an ever loving God who is always there to rescue our pain and despair. 🙂

  3. Jolene, what a beautiful job you did on this entire series on chronic illness and marriage. I know many women were blessed by your words of wisdom and encouragement as well as transparency. May God continue to bless your ministry to His glory!

  4. I too live with chronic illness (myself)…. But my frustration liesin the fact that my husband always tells me to “pray it off me” , to “rebuke the devil” and to not give in to it. I am made to feel, though I’m sure this is his intention, like a hypochondriac or a lazy person. How does one rebuke on a consistent basis, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and clinical depression, without feeling like a failure when everyday is still a battle? Yes I believe The Lord is healing me on a daily basis…I am not as bad in health as others, but I don’t feel like my husband really “gets it”, gets me….thank u for allowing me to vent…

      1. Sorry Susan, I didn’t see your comment come through.

Well, you can’t change your husband and it saddens me to hear that you feel worse in his presence rather than encouraged. Since you don’t feel encouraged by your man then you’ll have to run to the Lord even more. But God knows what you need and He’s faithful. Continue to talk with your husband about how you need his support. Prayerfully he’ll be sensitive to your needs.
